Well-sharpened skates with the same benefits:
Better grip in fast turns or turns.
Better efficiency - less energy used.
Excellent edge control.
Less abrasion for better glide, while riding and higher speed.
Groove depth
The value of "1/2" or "3/8" inch is to take a deep groove, while "1", "3/4" standard, or "7/8" inch is a shallow groove.
People who skate recreationally, amateur, often with sharpenings on the so-called neutral groove - "5/8" inch.
The deep groove of the character, which is located on the edges, allows for tighter turns and holding. The concave surface is larger, larger, sharper deeper "sinks" into the water, the skate puts more resistance when riding. Players who choose a deeper row "work harder" on the ice due to the friction that occurs. Characteristic edges with a deep groove, quick occurrence and the need for more care (more frequent sharpening). Deep edges that can be selected are smaller, weighing less than 84 kilograms (of course for estimates, which do not have to be the rule). Players playing close to the opponent, in the "crowd", often starting and fighting or just like to have a bigger advantage, prefer the regular groove. From the interesting facts Wayne Gretzky playing in the "Oilers" preferred a deep groove sharpened to ½ inch (diamond sleeve setting scale).
Rowe plates are preferred by heavier. The edges are not as worn out as with a deep groove, the skate is easily taken off the slide, not "sinking" in the liquid. Players on the groove plates use less energy while skating. Shallow groove gives effects when used with shared and accessible, who like open space and free accessibility. Skate blades with a shallow groove are easier to grind, and grinding is longer. In case of an incorrect concept, hockey skates having a deep groove. In the NHL each player develops his own meaning through years of experience in skating and must be a deep groove, the player must feel comfortable and safe on his edges. The higher state consists of several factors: experience, skill, skating style and to the computer acting as the ice. The skate blade can be sharpened very well, both on a deep groove and a shallow groove. Each player chooses himself for himself. The characteristics of sharpening on a deep groove or shallow, which will come first, are also not a rule, it is a consequence and what he prefers.
